Louise Sclafani, OD

Dr. Sclafani served as Associate Professor of Surgery and Director of Optometric Services at University of Chicago from 1993-2017. Her main interests include contact lenses, corneal disease, and surgery co- management. She applies her experience of challenging hospital based care as Vice President of Professional Affairs for SynergEyes and continues to see patients at SoLo Eyecare, a private practice in Chicago and at the Illinois College of Optometry where she trains optometry interns. She has held leadership roles in the American Optometric Association including Illinois State President and Chair of the Cornea and Contact Lens Section. She was awarded the status of Diplomate by the American Academy of Optometry CCLRT and serves as Vice Chair of the Section. She’s a Fellow of the Scleral Lens Society and Associate Member of the International Society of Contact Lens Specialists. She was selected by Review of Optometry as one of the Top 10 Females at the Forefront of Optometry and is founding member of GLOW, Global Ophthalmic Women.

Andrew S. Morgenstern, OD

Dr. Andrew S. Morgenstern is the current President of the International Keratoconus Academy of Eye Care Professionals. He is an Optometrist at the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland. Additionally, he is the Director for the American Optometric Association, Evidence Based Guideline Clinical Practice Guidelines.

John D. Gelles, OD

Dr. Gelles is the director of the specialty contact lens division of the Cornea and Laser Eye Institute and the CLEI Center for Keratoconus in Teaneck, NJ. He is an assistant clinical professor at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School, Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Science, and an adjunct clinical professor at State University of New York College of Optometry, Illinois College of Optometry, and New England College of Optometry. He is a PROSE clinical fellow and a fellow of the Contact Lens Society of America, the Scleral Lens Society, the British Contact Lens Association, and the International Academy of Orthokeratology and Myopia Control. He is a board member of the Contact Lens Society of America, an executive board member of the International Keratoconus Academy, and an advisory board member for the Gas Permeable Lens Institute. He is the education chair for the Intrepid Eye Society and International Keratoconus Academy. His clinical work is dedicated exclusively to specialty contact lenses and management of keratoconus and other corneal diseases, ocular surface disease, and post-surgical corneal conditions. Additionally, he is an investigator for multiple keratoconus and specialty contact lens-related clinical trials at CLEI and a consultant for numerous related technology and ophthalmic companies.

Justin Schweitzer, OD

Dr. Justin Schweitzer specializes in advanced glaucoma, refractive surgical clinical care, and anterior segment pathology at Vance Thompson Vision. He received his professional training and Doctor of Optometry degree from Pacific University College of Optometry in Forest Grove, OR. In 2012 he pursued his dream to focus on glaucoma, advanced anterior segment surgery care and pathology, joining Vance Thompson Vision in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. He earned Fellowship in the American Academy of Optometry in 2013, is the Optometric Externship Director at Vance Thompson Vision, Associate Optometric Residency Director, and Adjunct Clinical Professor of the Illinois College of Optometry and Kentucky College of Optometry. Dr. Schweitzer regularly lectures on glaucoma, anterior segment pathology, refractive surgical clinical care, and surgical management at state, regional, and national meetings. He is currently the Chief Medical Editor for Modern Optometry and has contributed book chapters, journal articles, and case studies in peer reviewed and non-peer reviewed journals including Review of Optometry, Optometry Times, Primary Care Optometry News, Optometric Management, The Journal of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, Clinical Ophthalmology, and The Journal of Glaucoma. He has research interests in minimally invasive glaucoma surgery and biomechanical properties of the cornea as it relates to glaucoma. Dr. Schweitzer is an advocate of an integrated eye care delivery model and is currently serving as President-Elect for the South Dakota Optometric Society

Melanie Frogozo, OD

Dr. Melanie Frogozo completed a residency in cornea and contact lenses at the University of Houston College of Optometry. After residency, she took a faculty position at the University of Iowa Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences, where she continued to develop her specialty. She is the owner of Alamo Eye Care and the director of the Contact Lens Institute of San Antonio located in San Antonio, Texas. She is also a Diplomate of the Cornea, Contact Lens, and Refractive Technologies Section of the of the American Academy of Optometry, a fellow of the Scleral Lens Education Society, a council member of the Contact Lens Section of the American Optometric Association, and a member of the Texas Optometric Association. Dr. Frogozo enjoys lecturing and is a regular columnist for Contact Lens Spectrum.

Steven M. Greenstein, MD

Dr. Greenstein graduated from New York University and received his medical degree from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. After completing a one-year pre-residency research fellowship, he graduated with a unique distinction in clinical research concentrating on keratoconus and corneal cross-linking with Dr. Peter Hersh at the Cornea and Laser Eye Institute. In addition, he completed an ophthalmology residency at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School and a cornea, refractive and external disease fellowship at Harvard Medical School. He is an assistant clinical professor at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School and an associate team ophthalmologist for the NY Jets. He specializes in keratoconus, corneal, and refractive surgery. His research interests include surgical treatment for keratoconus and novel techniques for corneal surgery. Dr. Greenstein is also involved in several clinical research studies designed to evaluate the safety and efficacy of new therapies and methods for keratoconus and refractive procedures. He has published multiple articles in prestigious medical journals; many of these papers are considered landmark papers out of the US on crosslinking. In addition to publications, he has presented at numerous scientific meetings on research related to keratoconus. He has co-authored several book chapters on corneal collagen crosslinking for keratoconus and corneal ectasia

Elise Kramer, OD

Dr. Elise Kramer is a residency-trained optometrist in Miami FL who specializes in ocular surface disease and specialty contact lenses. Her Doctorate degree was awarded in Optometry from the Université de Montréal in 2012During her fourth year, she completed her internship in ocular disease at the Eye Centers of South Florida and went on to complete her residency at the Miami VA Medical Center. Her time there included training at the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute, the nation’s top eye hospital. After her residency, Dr. Kramer became a fellow of the Scleral Lens Education Society (SLS) and now serves as the treasurer for the SLS. Dr. Kramer is a member of the American Optometric Association (AOA) and the International Association of Contact Lens Educators (IACLE) and a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry (AAO) as well as the British Contact Lens Association (BCLA). She is also the Delegate of International Relations for the Italian Association of Scleral Lenses(AILeS). Dr. Kramer has published several important articles and reviews and is participates in clinical research trials. She enjoys lecturing all around the world in several different languages about ocular surface disease and specialty lenses. She strives to assist each patient with quality and advanced eye care whether he or she requires a basic eye exam or specialized eye or vision care
